Kent look set to add Durham paceman Mark Davies to their squad.
Davies is in the final year of his contract at Durham but looks likely to be released after an injury-hit couple of seasons at Riverside.
The 31-year-old, who has played just 15 first class games in the last three years after struggling with an ankle injury, was part of the 16-man Kent squad that arrived back from a 10-day trip to Antigua last week.
The seamer impressed new head coach Jimmy Adams (pictured), who is hopeful of adding him to the squad before the season starts on April 5.
He said: "He came with us to Antigua and there is a good chance with all things being equal that he will be with us going forward into the season.
"Like a lot of the other players we have signed, he is a proven performer at first class level.
"He came to Antigua and was put through his paces, bowled well and it’s just a case now of both he and the rest of the squad getting things right over the next couple of weeks in preparation for that first game on April 5."
If Davies does sign, he will join recent recruits Scott Newman and Nash who will help bring further experience to the side’s top order.
