Everyone is looking forward to facing India in front of a full house at Canterbury on Friday.

The tourists may have struggled in the Test series but they are one-day world champions and still big box office.

There will be no pressure on us and it’s great for the club to have the chance of hosting a fixture like this in the build-up to the international one-day series.

I hope they put out their strongest side because it will be a good test for us and give our young bowlers a chance to judge where they are and what they need to do to improve.

The Test series finished at The Oval on Monday with a 4-0 England whitewash.

The India batsmen, apart from Rahul Dravid, haven’t been in the best of form but were outpowered by a strong England bowling attack who are one of the best around at present and showed why they are the top of the world rankings.

We were pleased with the victory against Middlesex in the championship and were confident that a target of 272 would be difficult to chase down at Canterbury on the final day. Stevo was once again a match-winner, taking 4-52 in the second innings.

Azhar also played well and several of the other guys chipped in with important runs. We have also found a bowling formula that works but it has taken us a while and Stevo and Treddy are a big part of that.

Wahab Riaz left us this week but coming in and being able to bowl at 90mph gave us another option and made the balance of our attack a lot stronger.

Somebody like that was sorely missed earlier in the season and hopefully we can make a signing earlier next summer or he could even come back himself.

He proved an influential player on the field and a good addition to the dressing room as well.

He was absolutely crazy with a good sense of humour and Azhar seemed to come alive in his company as well, enjoying the banter between the two of them.

Martin van Jaarsveld has stood down as vice-captain this week and with Keysy not with us at Hove on Tuesday, Geraint led the side for the first time.

Jarre hasn’t got the runs he would have liked this season and perhaps feels making a decision like this will take a bit of pressure off him.

It was good personally to get a couple of decent one-day scores in the wins against Holland and Middlesex and I see Farby is calling me "a finisher".

I am still looking, though, for a big championship innings and hope I can finish the season well in the three remaining four-day games.

I was asked last week about my own position regarding a new contract. We are due to talk again and hopefully an announcement will be made relatively quickly.
