I don't think we can hide from the fact the remainder of the Friends Life t20 programme is a crucial part of our season.
It is no doubt our best chance to win something this year and to qualify for the quarter-finals would be huge for us especially after making a poor start in the LV= County Championship.
The 20-over competition does show that you can be a good one day team without proving yourself in the County Championship.
Hampshire, who are bottom of Division 1, are the team to beat in the South Group, while Leicestershire who are bottom of Division 2, are proving their strength in the North Group.
There are no written rules as to who should be strong in this competition. We have found a good formula to our t20 game and hopefully it will be enough to qualify.

Then there is great depth to our batting and we have shown that in the last two games, forgetting the game against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.
I can’t believe that we are going to be playing a four-day game – starting against Surrey at the Kia Oval on Sunday – in the middle of this crucial period.
The schedule needs to be looked at again. I can’t believe that the outcome to sort out the scheduling for next year is to reduce the t20 to 10 games.
Why take away the crowds’ most popular game. Also if you have a few washouts, then Beckenham and Tunbridge Wells may miss out.
I believe that either the County Championship or the one-day game needs to take a cut. If you reduce the Championship to 12 games that will allow more competitive games between the teams as everyone will be fresher. It will also give teams longer to prepare.
Maybe the one-day game needs to be cut as it is the least important out of the three competitions.
I definitely don’t think that they have found the right schedule for English cricket yet.
Anyway, the next couple of weeks should be exciting and we would like as much support as possible for Friday’s game against Sussex Sharks.
Don’t worry all of you who are worried by Phil Relf hitting you with a ball with his slinger device.
He is back to normal throwing now. He was ‘lethal’ with one of those in hand.
