Robbie Joseph is searching for a new county after being released by Kent.
The Antiguan-born seamer, 29, was released toward the end of last season, bringing an end to a seven-year career with Kent which saw him claim 150 wickets in 53 first-class games.
A genuinely quick bowler, Joseph (pictured) was at times a match-winner and earned a call-up to the England Performance squad after the 2008 season in which he topped Kent’s bowling charts with 55 wickets.
However, injury blighted his time at the St Lawrence Ground and a shoulder injury sustained in a Twenty20 Cup game against Surrey at The Oval in 2009 limited him to just a handful of appearances in the next two years.
A decision was made before the end of the season not to renew Joseph’s contract and the bowler, who signed for Kent in 2004 after previously serving a residential qualification period on the Richie Richardson scholarship at Sutton Valence School, continues to look for a new county for 2012.
Kent’s chief executive Jamie Clifford said: "The club came to a conclusion that we wouldn’t be offering him another contract.
"We came to that decision some weeks ago but we sat down with Robbie and said ‘what’s the best way for you to go through the next period of looking for another county’ and we came to the conclusion that we wouldn’t announce it, which was at his request.
"We wish him well and I think he could do a job for somebody and more importantly he believes he can still do a job for somebody. Sadly, it wasn’t to be here."
Joseph said: “I have greatly enjoyed my time at Kent and now looking forward to a new challenge elsewhere. I feel I still have a great deal to achieve in the game and am looking forward to making that happen.”
