James Tredwell has spoken of his pride at his impact on the World Cup, and vowed to ensure it’s not his last involvement on the international stage.
The Kent spinner (pictured) looked set to spend England’s campaign on the sidelines after missing out on involvement in England’s first five Group B games.
However, the 29-year-old was thrust into the action for England’s must-win final game against the West Indies and responded with 4-48 to help England to a 18-run win and quarter-final game against Sri Lanka.
However, Tredwell had less of an impact as England bowed out with a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of joint-hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday.
He admitted: "After coming through the group, we had a feeling we might be able to sneak through to the final but it wasn’t to be."
Tredwell’s six overs went for 38 runs as the hosts secured victory with more than 10 overs to spare and he admitted: "I didn’t bowl as well as I could have but then I didn’t in the previous game either and I ended up as man-of-the-match. It’s the way things go in this game sometimes.
"But it was an amazing experience and it will live in the memory for a long time but I don’t want that to be my last international memory.
"I want to continue with my international career.
"I’ve got to come back to Kent and keep trying to force my way into the thoughts of the selectors."
