Another good win against Surrey on Sunday and it was nice for me and Stevo to be there at the end to finish things off after all the hard work had been done.
Dirk Nannes bowled pretty quickly at the start and when he got Keysy and Joe early on it looked like being all one-way traffic, but Jarre and Azhar played unbelievably well to set up the win.
The bowlers did their bit in restricting Surrey to only 150, and we also fielded very well.
We knew Nannes and Arafat were always going to be a threat, so it was a case of biding our time and striking at the right time, which Jarre and Azhar did targeting the other bowlers like Stuart Meaker.
Three games in four days is a busy spell. We face Hampshire having lost a five-over slog against them at Tunbridge Wells, then face Essex for the first time this season and hope to do the double over Glamorgan.
It’s extremely tight in the top-six of the South Group, and I am sure it will go down to the wire. We can beat anybody on our day, and while wins take us in the right direction, we mustn’t get too down if we lose one or two.
I am enjoying getting a run in the side, having played only four games before this season – and Keysy has plans for every opposing batsman, our bowlers and fielders.
There has been a lot of talk about players’ contracts in the past few days, and we all had our appraisals on Tuesday.
It is in the county’s hands, now, but it won’t hinder my performance or get me down if a contract offer doesn’t come immediately, but it makes things interesting.
We can’t forget the poor first half of the season, but Riaz and Langeveldt have made us a very strong side in t20 and things have picked up massively. If we do go on, and do very well, it will make the season look a lot brighter.
A few us of were at the Royal Berkshire Shooting Club on Wednesday in a clay pigeon shooting day for Keysy’s benefit. We met Murali at the hotel the night before, and were up until 1am talking to him about cricket. I wasn’t at the club when he was, but it was great to chat with one of the game’s legends.
