Kent County Cricket Club step up their search for a new chief executive next week when they begin interviews on Monday.

The club say they have had an "overwhelming response" to the advert which appeared nationally last month and it is understood the initial shortlist of six includes Jamie Clifford who has filled the role since Paul Millman left the county last November.

Chairman George Kennedy said: "We received about 50 applications for the post and attracted some good people.

"Several meetings have been held and we are holding interviews on Monday, before putting two names forward for consideration by the general committee."

Mr Kennedy, new treasurer Simon Philip and two other committee members, will be on the interviewing panel.

The club’s annual meeting takes place on Monday, March 29.
