Kent batsman Joe Denly and spinner James Tredwell have been named in the England Performance Squad for the summer's international season.

ECB National Selector Geoff Miller said: “The EPS is designed to allow the selectors to monitor the development of international players and better prepare them for the demands of the international game.

"James Tredwell and Michael Carberry have previously experienced the England set-up after making an impact at international level during the winter and similarly Joe Denly (pictured) and Liam Plunkett firmly remain in our plans over the course of the summer."

Kent’s team director Paul Farbrace said: “I’m delighted for both players that they have earned selection. Joe didn’t enjoy the greatest of winters, in terms of runs scored, but he is still in England’s thoughts and they view him as a long-term selection.

"James continues to go from strength to strength after an excellent winter.”

The pair are part of a 27-man squad which includes 11 players currently on ECB central contracts and seven on ECB increment contracts.
