THE prestigious Prince's Golf Club in Sandwich Bay will host a leap year's day charity golf event being promoted and assisted by Kent cricketer and golf nut Geraint Jones.
A single-figure handicap player who hits the golf ball a country mile, Jones is lending his support to the Martha Trust Charity Golf Day to be played at the famous links Open qualifying course on Friday, February 29.
The former England cricketer will line up with team-mates Martin Saggers, Simon Cook and Robbie Joseph together with former Kent stars John Shepherd and David Fulton.
Looking forward to the event, which will also include Ladies European Tour professional Danielle Masters from Maidstone, Jones said: "I've not just put my face to it because it's a very worthy cause and I live near by, but as a keen golfer I'd also like to make it a memorable event that people might want to play in for years to come.
"People will know their money is going to a good cause and I hope they will leave after the dinner having played a great course like Prince's and having had great fun, too."
The event, which includes breakfast, three-course dinner, prize-giving, memorabilia auction and raffle, will help boost funds for the Martha Trust residential and respite care centre at Hacklinge, near Deal.
The organising team at Martha Trust have sponsorship packages and various team places available and can be contacted on 01304 626171 for further details.
