Kent joins in Red Nose Day fun

Fund-raising events for Comic Relief will be held across the county on Friday.

Red Nose Day will be celebrated with a host of charity events, which will raise thousands of pounds for needy young people across the world.

The fun has already started in some places, with schools baking Red Nose cakes and getting up to other charitable mischief.

In Maidstone, men will be challenged to pole dance for two minutes at Beluga Bar in Bank Street to raise money for the appeal. It is being organised by Pole Secrets, a fitness school.

Meanwhile, in Thanet, an X-Factor style talent show involving students from all age groups is under way at Margate's Hartsdown Technology College.

The day will also feature a spoof video of Peter Kaye and Tony Christie’s Is This The Way To Amarillo, with staff taking the main roles, filmed around the campus by students.

In Medway, kmfm are hooking up with Hidsons in Rainham for 'kmfm's red nose money marathon'.

The team have been donated all sorts of top prizes by local businesses - including meals, movie passes and a bathroom suite to auction off on air.
