County teams wishing to make the leap into the Kent League will find the progression easier following the ratification of step 6 football next season.
Teams currently competing in the Kent County League have found their ambitions blocked due to a lack of facilities at their home grounds.
The new league will bridge the gap between the County league and the Kent League and gives teams such as Hollands & Blair, who won the Kent County, Premier Division title last season, the chance to take a further step forward.
Among the facilities that Kent League teams need in place are floodlights, perimeter fencing and hard standing areas for spectators but the financial commitment needed to accomplish these improvements is beyond many teams currently hoping to progress from the Kent County level.
A meeting between the two leagues was hosted by the Kent County Football Association last Thursday and following a suggestion by the FA it was agreed that each league would present their case to the FA Leagues committee as to who should be responsible for administering the new league.
"It’s another positive step," said Kent League chairman Denise Richmond (pictured).
"There will be a new step 6 league in Kent formed for the start of next season and that can only be of benefit for football in the county and surrounding area."
