The Sun's royal editor has been arrested at his Kent home by detectives investigating payments made by journalists to police and officials.

Duncan Larcombe, 36, was detained at his home - thought to be in Aylesford - early this morning on suspicion of conspiracy to corrupt and cause misconduct in public office.

He is now being questioned at a police station in the county while his home is searched.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police raided his property at about 6am as part of Operation Elveden.

Two other people - a 42-year-old man and a 38-year-old man - were arrested in a raid on their home in Lancashire.

The man, a former member of the Armed Forces, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and the woman on suspicion of aiding and abetting misconduct in a public office.

Operation Elveden is the Met's investigation into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials.

It is being run in conjunction with Operation Weeting, the inquiry into the phone-hacking of voicemail boxes.

Today's operation is the result of information provided to police by News Corporation's Management Standards Committee.
