General Election 2019: Kent MPs ranked with Tracey Crouch named best by Change.org and Tom Tugendhat and Bob Stewart among worst

A Kent MP has been ranked as the fifth best in the country.

Change.org compiled a list of the 650 MPs ahead of the next General Election to help people decide who they should vote for.

Tracey Crouch topped the list for the county and even made it in to the top 10.

The candidate for the Chatham and Aylesford seat was first voted in in 2010.

Posting on Facebook, Ms Crouch said: "Am rather chuffed to be ranked the fifth best MP out of 650.

"I may not be able to resolve every problem or issue that lands on my desk but I at least damn well try. And it helps that two members of my four strong team have been with me since 2010 and three out of the four are from Chatham.

"We all care because we live here too. I hope to be able to carry on fighting for local residents after December 12 - although the competitive sportswoman now aims to do even better than 5th."

.

No other Kent representative made it into the top 100. The next highest scorer is Ashford's Damian Green who ranked 163.

Several familiar names appear at the bottom of the pile though.

Tonbridge and Malling's Tom Tugendhat and Beckenham's Bob Stewart are both in the bottom 10 for the entire country.

The People-Power Index was created to see how well MPs were listening to and engaging with their constituents.

It looks at how available they are, their participation and how well they listen to the public.

This includes looking at social media presence, their voting record and their priorities.

While Kent only had one MP in the top 25 it had four in the bottom 24, in addition Mr Tugendhat and Mr Stewart Gillingham and Rainham's Rehman Chishti and Gravesham's Adam Holloway came in at 629 and 628 respectively.

During the period of an election MPs become candidates so any mention of specific MPs refers to the parliamentary period between 2017 and 2019.
