Kent have confirmed they decided not to pursue their interest in former England bowler Matthew Hoggard before Leicestershire offered him a three-year deal.

Head coach Paul Farbrace said: "We didn’t go too far down that road in the end, but we have been talking to a few players already about next season and are weighing up our options."

On the subject of bringing a high-profile overseas signing to St Lawrence, Farbrace added: "I think it’s highly unlikely we will get someone for the whole season, because of IPL commitments and the World Twenty 20 championships, but nobody is jumping off the page at moment."
