Kent looks set for a drenching as a weather warning is issued for heavy rain.
This week's clear skies and sunshine will give way to torrential downpours later today as very warm, humid air comes up from France.
It will bring with it the risk of thunderstorms throughout this afternoon and evening.
The Met Office yellow "be aware" warning is in place from 1pm to 11pm.
A spokesman said: "Whilst most places will miss the worst, it could lead to localised surface water flooding and difficult driving conditions.
"Frequent lightning and perhaps hail could be additional hazards."
Showers are expected to be heavy, with the potential for 25 to 30mm of rain to fall in the space of an hour.
It comes after a thunderstorm the size of Wales descended on Kent over the bank holiday weekend, bringing heavy rain and spectacular lightning scenes.
