John Bishop waves to fans through Higham with comedian Frank Skinner
Kent starred in comedian John Bishop's epic charity triathlon on Sport Relief last night.
The 45-year-old was dubbed the Pied Piper of Kent for the huge support he received from well-wishers across the county.
Thousands of people lined the streets to cheer the Liverpudlian on the final stage of his charity challenge to run the distance of three marathons from Dover to London earlier this month.
His trek - in which he cycled, rowed and ran more than 290 miles from Paris to London - was shown on BBC One last night.
Among the famous faces to help him along the way in Kent were comedian Frank Skinner and DJ Chris Moyles.
Bishop rode 185 miles from Paris to Calais, where he teamed up with television personality Davina McCall, athlete Denise Lewis and cricketer Freddie Flintoff to row across the Channel.
He then began the first of his three marathons - stopping overnight at Faversham and Gravesend.
The challenge took its toll on Bishop's body, with him having to be treated en route by a medic and even stopping for some acupuncture.
Bishop aimed to raise £1million - enough to pay for a vaccine against five deadly diseases for 250,000 children in Africa.
