Kent began life back in division one of the LV= County Championship in the worst possible fashion, losing by an innings and 32 runs to Nottinghamshire.
Rob Key's side were easily beaten within three days at Trent Bridge after being forced to follow-on in reply to the home side's first innings of 456.
Slumping to 200 all out in their first innings, Kent fared little better second time round as they were skittled out for 224. Darren Stevens (42 not out) and Joe Denly (37) were the only batsmen to offer any resistance as Kent were beaten midway through the afternoon session.
Luke Fletcher, Andre Adams and Samit Patel grabbed three wickets each. Adams finished with match figures of 7-141 as the New Zealand all-rounder led the charge for the hosts.
Kent will now hope to bounce back as they host Yorkshire at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury from next Wednesday.
