The county's cooking team has failed to get through to the Taste the Nation competition final.

The team beat Warwickshire in the quarter-finals of the cooking competition in the ITV1 show on April 15.

But in Tuesday’s semi-final against Northumberland, they missed out on the final show.

The team included John Pearce, 32 from Iwade, Patricia Brook, from Eltham, Izzy McKay, from Dover and Tommy Ferguson, from Bearsted and was mentored by celebrity chef Ed Baines.

The show pits county against county as amateur cooks battle it out to win the Taste the Nation cup for their county, using local produce.

Each county team is led by a celebrity chef who manages and mentors a team of four; three of these will be chosen to be in the first cook-off while the remaining one will compete in one of the later rounds.

A panel of judges decides which teams deserve to cook on to the final rounds. The judges are William Sitwell, editor of Waitrose Food Illustrated, Henrietta Green, expert on regional food and Richard Johnson, award-winning food journalist and broadcaster.
