Kent team director Paul Farbrace has ruled out drafting in another loan signing to bolster their resources after Phil Edwards joined the list of injured fast bowlers.
Edwards could be out for up to six weeks with a torn side muscle after being injured in last week’s Second Xl friendly against Yorkshire at Beckenham. He had just taken the last wicket in the Tykes’ first innings to finish with figures of 5-99 when he collapsed and played no further part in the game.
The 26-year-old seamer joins Amjad Khan, Robbie Joseph and Dewald Nel on the treatment table.
Farbrace said: "We have thought about it (a loan signing) but we’re not in a position to bring anybody else in."
Farbrace, though, hinted that Joseph might play against Pakistan in the three-day friendly, which starts at Canterbury on Monday. It’s just over a year since Joseph’s last first-team outing after injuring his shoulder fielding in a Twenty20 game against Surrey at The Oval.
James Hockley could also return against Pakistan, after being out for a month with a hamstring injury.
Farbrace said: "It could be a case of putting out a team short of full strength but there’s not too many others we can bring in."
