Kent youngsters produce good displays in English Schools Cross-Country Championships in Nottingham

Kent teams put in solid displays in the English Schools Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday.

The boys team finished third behind Greater Manchester and Hampshire & Vectis while the girls were sixth behind Essex, Hampshire & Vectis, Surrey, Greater Manchester and Lancashire in the flagship event of the schools winter season.

The leading runners for Kent in the three boys races were Jack Goss of Ashford AC who was 24th in the juniors, Laurie Probert of Tonbridge AC who finished 15th in the intermediates and Henry Pearce of Tonbridge AC who was 11th in the senior race.

In the girls races the top performances were achieved by Bobby Clay of Invicta East Kent who was 4th in the juniors, Ruth Bourne of Tonbridge AC who finished 15th in the intermediates and Emily Hosker-Thornhill of Invicta who was 50th in the senior event.
