Kent's MEP Nigel Farage has been injured in a plane crash on polling day this morning.

The county-born former leader of UKIP and South East MEP was involved in the crash just west of Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, today.

It was reported the crash is believed to have been caused by a party banner getting caught in the plane's engine.

The 46-year-old is recovering in hospital.

Both Mr Farage, who is contesting Speaker John Bercow's seat in Buckingham, and the pilot were said to have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch supported by Northamptonshire Police.
