Britain's finest works of body art will be on display today as the Kent Tattoo Convention kicks off.
Yet despite the many examples of creative genius that will be on show in Dreamland in Margate, there are always some left wishing they had stopped to think before they inked.
Here are some of the silliest tattoos adorned by people in Kent.
Billy the Quid
Lee Carroll, of Chatham, has “Got A Pand?" scribed across the back of his left thigh next to the controversial beaming face of Sukhvender Singh Deo, known as Billy the Quid, for his past begging exploits in Medway.
The father-of-three wanted something original, so he decided to get Billy’s mugshot permanently drawn on by Connor Armstrong, from Moogs Tattoos in Mr Green’s Barbers in The Delce, Rochester.
It's Coming Home
Football fan Zak Holman was so confident England would win the World Cup he thought he'd show his support in a cheeky - and very permanent - way.
But the 21-year-old from Whitstable was feeling a little regretful this morning as the prophecy of "it's coming home" - tattooed on his bum - proved off the mark as the Three Lions were dumped out by Croatia.
The Hoth logo
Andy Palmer from Sittingbourne runs a marketing and consultancy company, webmarketingkent.co.uk, and saw an offer from American web firm The Hoth.
It was for 32 customers to get a tattoo of its logo and in return receive $3,000 of credits to use on search engine optimisation services. The 38-year-old thought it was a great idea and decided to go under the needle.
Made in Medway
Charlotte Giles shows she is proud of her roots with her “Made in Medway” tattoo on her thigh.
The 22-year-old, of Walderslade, said: “I just got it as a joke holiday tattoo in Kavos. My best mate has a matching one.”
Red Eagle lands are holiday
A few beers after work, followed by a mad dare between two employees of a recruitment company ended with them getting a tattoo of their company logo branded to both of their bodies.
Lewis Farnham, who worked at Red Eagle Recruitment in Folkestone, said: "We have a great team spirit and regularly dream up of crazy challenges in the office - I’ll be reminded of this one everyday.”
