Gillingham were missing a third of their squad for Tuesday’s trip to Norwich and few are likely to be back for Saturday’s match at Hereford, with captain Barry Fuller and on-loan Norwich striker Cody McDonald among those absent.

The injuries have been mounting since pre-season and a virus in the Gills camp during the week has also left several players under the weather.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler said: "We have got a few injuries to key players and when they come back hopefully things will look better for us."

Fuller, pictured, has a knee injury and McDonald is suffering with a bruised foot.

Fuller is a "couple of weeks away" according to Hessenthaler, while McDonald could figure against Lincoln at Priestfield next weekend.

Also out are Garry Richards (ankle), Dennis Oli (hamstring) and Simon King (ankle). Mark McCammon has picked up a hamstring injury and Stanley Aborah is still awaiting international clearance to play.

Curtis Weston (thigh) missed the game at Carrow Road and had also picked up the virus that has hit Tony Sinclair, Andy Barcham, Josh Gowling and Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Young midfielder Dean Rance, meanwhile, is recovering from a broken foot.
