A SEVENTH man has been arrested following a vicious street brawl in a residential area of Walderslade.
The street fight in Tunbury Avenue on Thursday evening involved up to 20 men. Six people who were arrested at the time have since been granted bail.
The latest man to be arrested was apprehended on Saturday after being discharged from East Grinstead Hospital. He has now also been released on police bail.
Insp Neil Owen, of Medway Police, said the men who were arrested in connection with the incident had been released pending further police inquiries.
Three men needed hospital treatment for stab wounds after the fight. Two were treated at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham, and one was treated at East Grinstead Hospital.
Officers have not given further details of the incident and will not disclose the nationality of the men involved although witnesses said they were of Middle Eastern appearance.
Residents who live in the street were left shaken by Thursday's events. One who did not want to be named said: "I just hope the whole mess settles down now. We do not want another fight like last week. Some were lying in the street with blood pouring from them."
At a press conference on Friday Chief Insp Nigel Thomas appealed for information from anyone who may have seen what happened.
A full forensic search of the area was carried out on Friday morning and a heavy police presence at the junction of Tunbury Avenue and Robin Hood Lane could be seen for most of the day.
Extra police patrols were dispatched to the area over the weekend.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Medway police on 01634 884252.
