A MAN who died on the A228 near Strood when his car was crushed under a lorry has been named as Philip Reeves, a father of four children.
Mr Reeves, 49, from Tern Crescent, Strood, became the 28th person to die on the A228 in the past 10 years.
He was killed when his white Ford Escort and a 38-tonne lorry collided head-on just before midnight last Friday. Police are still appealing for witnesses.
Mr Reeves, who was also a grandfather, died of multiple injuries. An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on Thursday.
Police are also appealing for witnesses after a teenager was taken to hospital following another A228 accident on Tuesday.
The female pedestrian was struck by a red Vauxhall car on Grain Road in Middle Stoke just before 5pm. She was suffering from neck injuries and fractures to her arm and leg. The A228 is known as the Road of Death by safety protestors and is the subject of a Medway Messenger newspaper campaign.
