A four-year-old from Chatham had a very special appointment at Number 10 on Monday.
Lauren Hann was among the guests at a reception held in Downing Street to celebrate the 20th anniversary of national children’s charity, Dreams Come True.
The Prime Minister’s wife, Sarah, hosted the birthday party for terminally and seriously ill children. Lauren was one of 20 invited to attend the special event.
The youngsters and their families were also be given a guided tour of the offices and residence of the first family.
Lauren suffers from a condition known as global development delay – a delay in all areas of development including motor skills, speech and language skills, cognitive and social skills.
The charity helped Lauren last year by providing her with a new trike.
Her mum Sinead, speaking ahead of party, said: “Lauren is thrilled to have been asked by the charity to go along. It’s very exiting to be visiting the home of the Prime Minister and we are really looking forward to the occasion.”
Dreams Come True fulfils the dreams of terminally and seriously ill children and young adults and over the last 20 years it has realised more than 3,500.
Paul Kirtley, chairman of Dreams Come True trustees, said:“It’s a fantastic gesture from Number 10 to allow us to visit.
“We know the children are all very excited and will not be disappointed by this wonderful opportunity.”
