Lawyers for England football fan Garry Mann are making a last-ditch attempt to prevent his extradition to Portugal.

Yesterday human rights judges rejected a legal challenge to his conviction following a riot at the Euro 2004 tournament.

The former Kent fireman, 52, was sentenced to two years in a Portuguese jail.

But lawyers will tell the High Court they have new evidence from the Foreign Office.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled 52-year old Garry Mann, from Faversham, will have to return to serve his punishment.

Mr Mann has always protested his innocence claiming his trial was unfair.

Judges here who have reviewed the case say he suffered a serious injustice.

Speaking after yesterday's ruling Mr Mann told KentOnline: "To me that's a joke.

"To me they have betrayed an English citizen. I'm just totally ashamed by the lot of them."
