Gillingham midfielder Nicky Southall admits the League 2 play-off final at Wembley could be his final bow for the club.
The 37-year-old (pictured right) has clocked up 372 appearances for the club and will be hoping for a place on the bench at best on Saturday against Shrewsbury.
He said: “I’ve played all season and to find myself out of the team now is difficult but you have to be a man about it, get on with it and support the team.
“It would be nice to go out with a bang and win there and finish my Gillingham career off on a high.
“I started the season on loan at Dover, playing away at Hendon on a rainy night in some part of London, where the dressing rooms were terrible and the pitch was shocking, and I could be finishing it at Wembley.
“I always had a burning ambition to pull on that blue and white jersey again and I’ve chipped in with some vital goals this season.”
With his contract expiring Southall’s career at the Gills looks destined to be at an end, although he hasn’t completely given up hope.
“You can never say never,” he said.
