More on KentOnline

Killer drug Mephedrone may have been banned but packages of the
illegal substance were still delivered to the county early this
week.
In a special investigation by KentOnline we had a half-gram
package, enough for at least 10 hits, sent to our Strood
office.
It was delivered by a postman who didn't know he was carrying a
Class B substance.
We bought it online before it was outlawed to show just how easy
it was to obtain the drug, said to be responsible for dozens of
deaths.

The company we purchased it from sent the package without
leaving enough time for it to arrive before the ban began. A flurry
of last-chance buying on their site could have left illegal
mephedrone packages criss-crossing the UK .
Last week we spoke to one drug
user who had tried Mephedrone and backed the ban.
The Kent student told how taking mephedrone was "the worst
experience" of his life.
Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

delivered to our office.
The 22-year-old - who didn't want to reveal his name - said
he initially felt a rush of elation after taking the drug.
But then he suffered a severe headache lasting several
days.
He said: "Every time you come down off the trip, you have
ridiculous headaches.
"I thought it was something to do with the amount of alcohol I
was throwing down my neck, and it wasn't until I stopped it I
realised it was messing my brain up."
The student added how he's glad the drug - sold on the internet
as "plant food" and linked with several UK deaths - is now
illegal.
Mephedrone has been classified as a Class B illegal substance
and possession can carry a five-year prison sentence.
Dealing the drug will carry a maximum sentence of 14 years in
prison.
We handed our package straight to Kent Police.

Replacements for mephedrone are already being sold legally on
the web.
We revisited the site where we purchased our mephedrone and the
same company was selling a drug called naphyrone, reputed to have
similar effects.
Naphyrone, also known as NRG-1, is thought by many to be a more
dangerous and harmful substance.
Where mephedrone works by over-stimulating the brain's pleasure
receptors, naphyrone has similar effects, but also floods the body
with adrenaline.
It is so new it is not listed on the Government's drug advice
website Frank.
