From Manchester’s dynamic musical landscape comes a band rated as the most compelling soundclash to rise from the underground for years.
Tonight (Friday) Sonic Boom Six are unleashed at the West Coast bar in Margate.
Few bands can so smoothly mix dancefloor-savvy elements of reggae, jungle and ska with the rigorous commentary of hip-hop whilst retaining enough grit and aggression to be an active fixture of the UK’s punk scene.
Sonic Boom Six are propelled by the melodious rapping of Laila K, who is rated as one of the most incendiary vocalists to ever bounce around a moshpit of Mohawks.
Promoter Steve DIY said: “SB6 create a sound as authentic as it is unique. Looking as at home on a festival stage as they are playing at a warehouse party, the band are retaining their grassroots identity and positive, unifying message as their music steadily permeates a wider international audience.
“Check out Sound of a Revolution for the Boom in an instant – fluid grime vocals laid over a bass-heavy skank, detonated with a blast of punk-rock.”
Main support act are Brighton-based Floors And Walls who are well-known on the gig circuit for their blend of hip hop and rock.
Opening the night are Kent ska-punk band 7 Day Conspiracy who went down really well when they played the venue last September with Conflict. And keeping the sounds coming is DJ Toast. Doors open at 7pm and first band are on at around 8pm. This is an aged 14+ show and door price is £6 in advance, and £7 on the door.
