Two brothers from Sheldwich are singing for their supper all the way to Wales.
Ed and Ginge Stevens, of New House Lane, have joined forces with long time friend Will Parsons, from Elham, for their latest pilgrimage “A Walk Around Britain.”
The trio will travel the country from Canterbury to Wales, collecting and singing songs and hopefully raising enough money to find a roof for the night.
“Songs are one of the strangest things you can pick up, people just sing them to you when you least expect them,” said Will, charity worker and part time book seller.
He added: “we’ve got a really good resource with the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London at Cecil Sharp House.
“Friends there put us in touch with classic early 20th century and 19th century songs that have relevance to the areas we’re travelling through and we try and learn them and perform them when we get there.”

Ed, Ginge and Will spend the summers hop picking around Faversham together and have done similar pilgrimages in recent years.
“It seems at this time of our lives that this is a wonderful opportunity to go out and learn about our country,” said Will.
He added: “there are lots of things we’d still like to do around Kent and places we’d like to go, but this is a chance to see what people can teach us.”
