Live coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games - Saturday, August 4

10.20pm - What a day. Just.... what a day. An absolute roller-coaster of emotion.

Tomorrow evening we'll see this bloke - running in the 100m semi-final.

Adam Gemili
Adam Gemili

Hope he's in bed already!

Ashley Jackson also has a massive game with Australia at the Riverbank Arena at 7pm.

I'm going to call it Super Sunday!

I'll see you tomorrow.

10.14pm - Soooo predictably GB are out. 5-4 on spot-kicks in one of the highest-quality shootouts you will ever see. Dan Sturridge missed the decisive fifth for GB, with Korea converting their last penalty to reach the semi-finals.

10pm - Penalties in the football. Soooo predictable. 1-1 at FT and after ET.

9.51pm - Farah and Ennis have both just completed the Grand Slam of major international titles too. What an absolutely astonishing night.

9.46pm - Incredible scenes as Mo Farah blitzes his way to Gold. What a night to be here. Highs and of course the lows. This is the Olympic Games. The GREATEST Show you will ever see!

9.30pm - Greg Rutherford has leapt to Gold in the long jump, the first GB winner of that in 48 years.

It's the first day that GB has won five golds since 1908, when Wolves were good and Titanic was a mere drawing of a boat.

Football has gone to extra-time. Still 1-1.

9.14pm - Mo Farah in the final of the men's 10k now. 25 laps. Hardcore.

9pm - This place just went electric. Jessica Ennis absolutely battered the rest of them into submission. This is her Games, this is her country, this is her gold medal. Far too good.

KJT and Ennis are going to be gold and silver in Rio, I tell you that now!

8.45pm - Not long til KJT and Jess Ennis take to the track to complete their heptathlon campaigns.

8.40pm - They're playing Massive Attack during the heptathlon 800m. Louise Hazel in heat one. I've perked up a bit!

8.25pm - Ellen Gandy absolutely mullered her butterfly leg. She took over adrift in eighth, and finished adrift in eighth, but did her 100m in about 57.5secs to close the gap.

Meanwhile Bertrand won the penalty from which Aaron Ramsey equalised for GB against South Korea at Cardiff, but Ramsey saw a second spot-kick saved so it remained 1-1 at the break.

8.05pm - Well, don't know about you, but that left me feeling empty.

Whatever you think about Jack, he's 20 years old and is already top class. He's going to learn from that and be around for years to come.

Felix Sanchez was the fastest qualifier for the final. He is FOURTEEN years older than Green.

Anyway, Ellen Gandy seems to be going in the 4x100m medley relay at the Aquatics Centre any minute now while Ryan Bertrand starts for GB who have just equalised against South Korea to make it 1-1 in their quarter-final match.

8.02pm - If you want to hear what Jack made of that, click here.

7.39pm - To clear up, Dai Greene squeaked through as a fastest loser, despite finishing fourth in his heat. Rhys Williams missed out in his heat. There is at least one Brit in the final.

7.30pm - Jack is ok physically but absolutely devastated, however he'll be back, have no doubt. Very emotional story coming soon.

7.10pm - Jack Green is out. He fell.

7.08pm - Dai Greene looks to be out in a huge shock. Here comes Jack Green.

6.55pm - Ok, Dai Greene and the rest have re-emerged after going back inside during a medal ceremony. Should be off at 7pm as planned then.

6.52pm - 11-5 at half-time. These boys never know when they are beaten.

6.46pm - Gutsy. It's 9-3. Dai Green and heat one are on

the track already. That's MUCH earlier than advertised. Not sure

why.

6.39pm - Make that 7-1. Half hour warning for Green.

6.30pm - Sadly powerhouses Hungary are out to an early 4-0 lead against Sean King and GB in the waterpolo.

Half an hour til the athletics start here.

6.15pm - Only seven runners in the three semis have run faster than JG this year. But it's all about putting that together on the night.

Top two from each semi qualify, with a couple of fastest losers making up the field for Monday night's final.

6.05pm - Kat Driscoll has spoken of her sadness after her ninth-placed finish in the trampolining prelims.

Don't forget, as if you could, Jack Green is in Lane 4 in the second 400m hurdles heat this evening, should start in an hour precisely.

4.55pm - The women's 4x100m medley relay goes at 8.07pm - I'll be honest, I'm no closer to knowing if Ellen Gandy will be involved for GB or not. But when I know, you'll know.

And let's not forget Sean King and the GB waterpolo team who are up against it when they take on the perennial champions Hungary at 6.20pm.

It's a learning experience for GB in this Games, but they have won a lot of admirers with their hard work and courage. Expecting more of the same this evening.

4.50pm - Erm. Check my twitter - @kentonline2012 - if you want to see if I managed it or not!

A quick reminder that Gillingham's Ryan Bertrand and GB have a quarter-final match against South Korea at Cardiff this evening too.

It's going to be a massive evening.

4.25pm - I'm trying to blag my way onto the track.

But before I do, just an addition to Kat's story. She IS the highest-placed Brit ever in an Olympic trampoline competition, beating Claire Wright's 10th-place in the prelims in Beijing four years ago.

A small victory whcih I'm sure will mean more in time.

3.55pm - Elsewhere Tunbridge Wells' Bryony Shaw recorded a seventh and a fifth-placed finish this afternoon in the two RS-X windsurfing races at Weymouth.

It leaves her seventh overall and 16 points off bronze with two races to come tomorrow afternoon and the medal race after that.

Can she make a late run to emulate her bronze from Beijing? Fingers crossed.

Wow. Quite an afternoon this.

3.48pm - From the most fun to write, to one of the most difficult to write stories... all within two hours. I guess that's the Olympics for you.

3.25pm - Absolute agony for Kat Driscoll.

Chasing history and sitting in eighth place - the final qualifying place for this afternoon's final - with just one jumper remaining, Kat cruelly missed out.

She had gradually slipped down the leaderboard throughout the second round, but the penultimate jumper from Japan was unable to oust her from eighth, leaving US's Savannah Vinsant the last competitor up.

Despite Vinsant wandering out of the box during her routine, the judges awarded her 54.955 which took her up to seventh, and saw Kat slip to ninth.

The gap between the Walderslade star - hoping to become the first Brit ever to make an Olympic trampoline final - and eighth-placed Russian Victoria Voronina was an excruciating 0.010 marks.

I am absolutely gutted for Kat. She doesn't deserve that. This is an emotional day already, and we've still got Jack Green's Olympic semi-final to come.

2.50pm - Kat has just nailed her second routine.

She was 12th of 16 in round one after a slightly nervy-looking performance, however her second routine was very difficult and she made no mistakes.

Her score of 54.650 took her temporarily into second place. 11 more jumpers to come. Remember, we need top eight to get her in the final.

2.17pm - RED-HOT OFF THE PRESS. ADAM GEMILI FACES YOHAN BLAKE AND TYSON GAY IN THE OLYMPIC SEMI-FINAL ON SUNDAY NIGHT AT 8.01PM. He'll be in lane seven. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. I CANNOT wait.

I'm incredibly proud of all of our athletes you know. They're not just brilliant at their sports, but they are just such nice people too!

2pm - Kat Driscoll is about to start. I DEMAND you get on your red button!

1.25pm - I can tell you that Adam Gemili is in a pretty good mood down there. He's not naming times, but he wants to go faster in the semis. To make the final would be the dream of his entire life.

He was 11th fastest qualifier for tomorrow night's semis.

I doubt he'll ever play Blue Square Bet South football again anyway!

My story will be with you asap.

40 minutes until Kat Driscoll goes at the North Greenwich Arena don't forget.

1.03PM - GEMILI IS THROUGH. FINISHED SECOND BEHIND POWELL IN 10.11SECS. GET IN!!!!!!

12.56pm - Bolt wins in 10.08 - slower than Gemili's PB by the way - and Brit James Dasaolu snatches third place to make the semis. Excellent news.

The National Gem is next.....

12.51pm - Some outrageous times here already. Ryan Bailey of the USA just ran 9.88. Fastest ever first round time at an Olympics.

Here comes Bolt...

12.45pm - No shocks so far, Gay and Gatlin through. Now for heat three. Adam will be of around 12.55pm at this rate.

12.32pm - Tyson Gay wins the opening 100m heat while at Weymouth Bryony Shaw is seventh in the seventh race of the RS-X windsurfing competition. She's consistent, but needs some top-three finishes to close on the medals.

12.25pm - Not long to wait now. Pass the time by comprehending this... if Kent were a country, we'd be ahead of India in the medals table right now in =37th.

11.55am - Just over half an hour until the first heat of the 100m. 3k women's steeplechase heats currently under way. Biggest cheer of the opening heat went to the woman who was dropped by the field and finished 300m adrift. We Brits do like a plucky loser!

11.15am - Ok. Gemili will run in the fifth heat of the 100m. He will be in lane four. He will face Jamaica's Asafa Powell in his race. This is big time people.

I suppose I should tell you too that Tyson Gay goes in heat one and Usain Bolt in heat four, with Yohan Blake in the sixth heat.

Adam's race is likely to be around 12.45.

10.38am - Special moment for me there. Watching Oscar Pistorious cruise through his 400m heat. The Bladerunner is the first double-amputee to take part in an Olympic Games.

The sunlight glinted off those blades the whole way round. It was like a spotlight, showing you where he was, all the way round.

Makes me appreciate how lucky I am in a great many ways. Humbling.

10.25am - Unfortunately for Canterbury forward Jen Wilson and the South Africa hockey girls, they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Australia in this morning's early game to remain winless at the tournament so far.

10am - There is a bit of drizzle in the air, but spirits remain high here at the OS. There are a couple of people competing this morning that seem pretty popular. Jessica E... En... Ennis, is that how you say it? She's up in the long jump soon, and then there's some up-and-coming sprint prospect called Usain Bolt later!

8am - Good morning. Welcome to day two of the athletics here at the Olympic Stadium.

Today promises to be a memorable one and Kent are well represented both here, and elsewhere in the Games.

First-up is the Olympic debut of a Dartford teenager by the name of Adam Gemili.

He's the World Junior Champion, the fastest man in Britain this year, can run the 100m in 10.05secs and is due off in the 100m first round some time after 12.30pm.

At 2pm Medway's Kat Driscoll will take part in the trampoline competition at the North Greenwich Arena, looking to make history by becoming the first British woman to make an Olympic final, which would follow at 3.30pm.

Bryony Shaw has two races at Weymouth this afternoon as she looks to close the gap on the medal places in the RS-X windsurfing competition and then Jack Green will seek to book his place in the Olympic 400m hurdles final with a good run in the semi-finals, some time after 7pm.

Sean King is in waterpolo action at 6.20pm while Ellen Gandy is rumoured to be making her return to the pool in the 4x100m medley relay this evening while Gillingham's Ryan Bertrand will play a quarter-final against South Korea at 7.45pm.

It promises to be a historic day. Hope you can join me here, and @kentonline2012 through the day for live updates, and the colour of the Games.
