Lisa Dobriskey and Jack Green will look to continue their Olympic preparations against elite opposition at Friday night’s London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.

The two Kent athletes – who will be joined by Dartford’s Adam Gemili in the Team GB athletics squad for London – produced breakthrough performances running in Europe last weekend which have boosted hopes of success at this weekend’s Diamond League meeting in south London.

Green, from Maidstone, stormed home in the 400m hurdles at the Meeting de Atletismo in Madrid on Saturday but was pipped by just 0.02secs by the USA’s Justin Gaymon. ‪

However Green’s run of 49.65sec was into a strong headwind which could have increased his time by up to half a second, towards his personal best of 48.98.

He said: "I am taking a lot of positives from the race. I finally got my desired stride pattern and I still finished strong. It was a strange race though. It felt a lot quicker than what it was."

He added: "Now I have to make it quick at Crystal Palace. This Friday is very important."

Green, 20, (pictured right) will take on an elite field – including world champion Dai Greene, Dominican veteran and former Olympic champion Felix Sanchez and Puerto Rico’s Javier Culson, who is based at his nation’s training camp in Canterbury –at 6.30pm on Friday.

Green will also be competing against his training partner Greene over the flat 400m in the national title race on Saturday afternoon.

Dobriskey (pictured above) more than justified her Olympic 1,500m selection with a UK leading time of 4.02.13 in the Paris Diamond League on Friday night.

The very strong field meant she only finished 8th but her time at the Stade de France was 10 seconds faster than her fastest in her three previous races this year after coming back from a femur injury and blood clots on her lungs.

The performance means Dobriskey, 28, will be the second fastest athlete this year in the 11-strong field at Crystal Palace, behind Morgan Uceny of the USA.

Double world champion Maryam Jamal of Bahrain – who finished just behind Dobriskey in Paris – is also included, along with Dobriskey’s fellow Team GB members Hannah England and Laura Weightmann in the race, which starts just after 7.30pm.
