A familiar face will be missing from Minster Parish Council when Labour member Gerry Glover stands down after 13 years next week.
He parts with mixed feelings, having enjoyed the first years of his work.
“For the past five years though, being on the parish council has been an uphill struggle,” said Cllr Glover, of Freeman’s Road.
Other members had worked against plans to regenerate the village, he said.
Cllr Glover, who was project manager of the village MATCH heritage and regeneration project between 2003 and 2006, helped bring in £700,000 of investment to Minster. Last year, long term plans for an all weather surface in the village recreation ground came to fruition.
Cllr Glover, who lost his sight four years ago, said he has no firm plans for the future but is keen to be involved in public life.
