Rotherham 3 – 0 Gillingham
A GOAL less than a minute into the second half set up a win for Rotherham on a miserable afternoon for Gillingham at Millmoor.
The visitors were slow to react as Lee Williamson played in Paul McClaren, who had lost his marker, and the midfielder calmly beat Jason Brown.
The goal undid all the good work done by Neale Cooper’s side in the opening 45 minutes where they successfully restricted the home team.
Rotherham began to apply the pressure after the goal and Brown did well to tip Williamson’s shot around his post after 54 minutes.
Gillingham suffered a blow just after the hour mark when centre back Chris Hope had to be withdrawn through injury.
Rotherham doubled their lead with eight minutes to play when Deon Burton was left with a tap in at the far post after good work from Martin Butler.
And the impressive Butler completed the scoring just before the final whistle.
