Any fears Halloween might pass without a scare this year are being put to bed by the spooky folk of Kent.

Homes across the county have been turned into houses of horror in time for tomorrow.

Craig Sowter's tour of terror

One person who has gone all out is Craig Sowter, from Hempstead.

His hand-built display is set to terrify residents of Lombardy Close when he puts it up tomorrow.

The 29-year-old railway construction manager spent £500 sourcing materials and smoke machines and took two months to put it together.

A guided tour of last year's display shows what socially distanced fright fans are in store for.

Themed rooms come with their own haunting soundtracks and skeletons and monsters spew out of arcade machines.

Because of social distancing the garage is out of bounds this year.

He said: "Last year I had it all up for a few days up until Halloween, but because of how things are at the moment it will only be up for the kids trick or treating with sweets outside."

Over in Wigmore Road, Gillingham, Lavinia Hedges' Mickey Mouse-themed extravaganza will raise money for those suffering from pancreatic cancer when it is officially unveiled tonight.

Complete with multiple pumpkins and a scarecrow Mickey it promises to be even more terrifying than Disney classic Fantasia.

They are not the only ones getting in to the festive spirit, elsewhere meticulously carved pumpkins, homes adorned with giant cobwebs and even SpongeBob SquarePants make an appearance.
