Lordswood are now a massive 66 points clear at the top of the Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 1 after recording their 10th win in 11 matches on Saturday.

"It was another good day at the office for us," was how captain Jeremy Greaves described their latest victory, an 83-run success over Orpington.

"It looked like we might be frustrated by the weather because we had to come off twice for rain, but we stuck at it and got our reward."

A superb century by Lyndon Lockhard, supported by half centuries from Matt Iles and Chris Thompson (pictured), enabled Lordswood to total 277-7 from their 50 overs and then Darren Scott led the way with 3-37 as they dismissed Orpington for 194.

And, with second-placed Whitstable being held to a tie by Tenterden, it meant that Lords took an even bigger step towards wrapping up the title after being relegated from the Premier Division last season.

Greaves added: "To be honest, we are a Premier Division side playing in Division 1. We have kept all the same team from last season apart from our overseas player.

"We decided we didn’t need an overseas player in Division 1 and our results so far have proved that. But we know it’s not all over yet, and we’ve still got some tough games to play against the likes of Whitstable and The Mote."
