A LORRY driver escaped with minor injuries when his vehicle hit a lamppost and brought down a power line.

The A28 between Chartham and Chilham was closed on Sunday between 7.20pm and 11.30pm at Sunnybrook garage. The driver declined hospital treatment.

Seeboard attended and the power was shut off while the cable was removed and the lorry recovered.

Traffic lights were set up on the A28 because a lane was blocked off while repairs were made on Monday morning, causing delays to rush-hour traffic.
