Lorry driver killed in M-way crash

POLICE are investigating a motorway crash in which a Kent lorry driver and two other people were killed.

Stephen Law, 37, who lived at Minster, Sheppey, died of multiple injuries when the Vovlo lorry he was driving on the north-bound side of the M1 near Northampton crashed into the central barrier. Police say the lorry crossed over the central reservation and into the south-bound lanes where it collided with five other vehicles.

The other drivers killed in the crash last Wednesday evening were Benjamin Kwapong 53, from Leytonstone, London, and Neil Owen, 41, from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

Police say Mr Law was alone in the lorry cab when the accident happened. The crash closed the M1 for 12 hours.

A spokesman for the Northampton coroner said Mr Law's inquest was due to be opened tomorrow (Wednesday) and adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Mr Law's body was identified by his widow. His funeral will be next Monday at Vinters Park Crematorium at Maidstone.
