A lorry driver, with a cargo of women’s clothes, has been taken to hospital after his truck caught fire on the M20.
Three pumps and a water unit were called to the blaze, which started in the lorry’s cab, between Junction 3 for Wrotham and the A20 at about 3.30am today.
The London-bound carriageway had to be completely closed.
Fire crews needed to throw the clothing on the side of the carriageway to avoid it catching fire.
About 15 firefighters tackled the blaze until 5.30am.
It is believed the clothes will need to be thrown away as they suffered smoke damage and were soaking wet.
It is thought the driver needed treatment for breathing in smoke.
The M20 is now completely re-opened.
