A lorry fire on the the M2 this morning has caused travel chaos after it was shut in both directions.
Traffic between Junction 6 for Faversham, and Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and the Stockbury Roundabout is being turned around due to the blaze on the coast bound carriageway at around 4am this morning.
All traffic on the westbound carriageway has now cleared, except for lorries.
The coast bound carriageway temporarily reopened but has since been closed again while fire crews work to extinguish the flames.
Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier are at the scene, as well as a crew from the Technical Rescue Unit.
KCC Highways says: "Emergency services are in attendance and Highways England have advised the road is likely to remain closed for several hours.
"Please use the signed diversion route: Follow the solid square diversion symbol.
"Please allow extra time for your journey and expect delays in the area."
The A2 is also closed due to emergency work to fix a gas leak.
