Lorry gutted by fire but barn saved

A horsebox lorry was destroyed by fire on Wednesday evening but firefighters managed to stop the blaze spreading to a nearby barn.

It happened at Cowstead Farm, on Lower Road, Minster, near the roundabout, at 7.30pm.

Firefighter Dave Hewitt said: "We believe it was accidental and the horsebox lorry was parked and unatttended near the barn which was smoke-logged.

"There were no horses in the lorry."

Firefighters from Sheerness and Queenborough attended.
