Gills boss Mark Stimson described Febian Brandy’s decision to reject an extended stay at Priestfield as “a massive blow.”

Brandy netted twice in nine appearances for the Gills and Stimson had offered the Manchester United striker a loan deal until the end of the season.

Stimson was hoping Brandy and top scorer Simeon Jackson would lead Gillingham’s bid to survive in League 1 this season.

Despite the snub though the Gills boss hasn’t given up hope completely.

Stimson said: “It’s a massive blow because in the games we’ve had there are two threats when he is in there.

“Fab looked a natural, created chances, got us penalties and scored goals.

"He’s decided to go back there and whether it’s dead and buried we’ll have to see.”
