A MOTHER has paid a moving tribute to her young son who died after being stuck by a car on a main road.

Sarah Barnes, from New Romney, near Hythe, said 11-year-old Lewis was "full of fun and with not a care in the world".

She added: “We as parents have had our world shattered and Lewis’s brother, Taylor, and sister, April, have lost a brother, and can never replace the naughty but nice brother they loved and adored so much.

“Lewis was blessed with two sets of grandparents, aunties and uncles, who will never forget his cheeky grin and his dislike of soap and water and fear of toothbrushes.

"Never again will he have to do these things. Keep playing and having fun, our little star."

She added: “We would like to thank our friends, family and well-wishers for their cards, kind words and calls, but would ask that we are now left in peace at this very sad time.”

The youngster, also known Lewis Corner, was struck by a white Mitsubishi Shogun in New Romney High Street on Thursday, February 15. He was taken to hospital but lost his fight for life.

Bunch after bunch of colourful flowers have now been placed in the the high street at New Romney. Some, from classmates, refer to him as a little soldier, a bright star, a good friend, a great friend.

Members of Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses to the tragedy. Anyone with information is asked to call 01622 798538.

The driver of the car has been spoken to by police and no action has been taken.
