Welling United are just a point outside the play-off places after their fifth win in six Blue Square Bet South matches.
They overcame Maidenhead 3-0 on Saturday to move into sixth in the table.
Following a goalless first half the Wings took the lead two minutes after the break when Luis Cumbers burst into the box and slotted low beyond keeper Steve Williams.
The hosts nearly equalised three minutes later but Kieron St Aimie headed wide Sam Collins' left-wing cross.
Williams was then lucky to avoid being sent-off after racing out of his area and taking out Wings striker Andy Pugh.
Referee Derek Eaton, who also let Bobby Behzadi off a second-yellow in the first 15 minutes when he kicked the ball away, only cautioned the home keeper to the dismay of the Welling fans.
Welling were soon back into gear, however, and made it 2-0 on 65 minutes when Pugh and Cumbers combined for Loick Pires to chest the ball down and fire home from 12 yards.
Within a minute, player-manager Jamie Day cleared off the line from substitute Martel Powell but thereafter it was all one-way traffic.
Pires' low left-foot shot was somehow deflected wide before Joe Healy forced the ball home from close range with 18 minutes to go to make it 3-0.
Welling could have easily doubled their tally in the last 15 minutes, Pugh somehow fired over from 10 yards and a minute later he saw his close-range effort cleared off the line by Mark Nisbet.
Substitute Loui Fazackerley sent Pires clean through but Williams beat away his low drive and then Pugh shot wide of the near post in the final minute.
Leaders Bromley suffered their first defeat of the Blue Square Bet South campaign, going down 4-1 at Basingstoke on Saturday to slip to third.
Having gone 1-0 down to Greg Draper's seventh-minute opener, Tutu Henriques was left unmarked to volley home a corner within two minutes of the restart to equalise.
However the hosts replied within a minute through Matt Warner and despite the visitors having strong appeals for a penalty dismissed, the hosts netted two more in the final 11 minutes through Delano Sam-Yorke's brace against the run of play to wrap up the points.
