Maidstone boss Andy Ford has completed the re-signing of former skipper Jay Saunders.
The midfielder quit the Stones in February last year, just days after accepting a role as player-coach and helped Margate retain their Ryman League Premier Division status during his third spell at Hartsdown Park.
He could make his second Stones debut against Harrow on Saturday, which is his 32nd birthday.
Stones boss Andy Ford said: "I managed him at under-10 level when he played in a team with my son and I had him at Gravesend when he was a fair bit older.
"I think Jay’s experience will strengthen us in an important area."
Saunders revealed a meeting with Stones chief executive Bill Williams and co-owner Terry Casey persuaded him to return to the club.
He said: "Terry did a good job of explaining the club’s aims and plans. I was impressed that he was prepared to take the time to do this."
