A similar theme park to the £2bn Paramount project for Kent is set to be built in Spain and is due to open in 2015.

Paramount, the company behind films such as Shrek, Indiana Jones, Titanic and Transformers, plan to build the major attraction on the country’s southeast coast.

It promises to create about 22,000 jobs.

The 2.5 million square development is expected to pull in about three million visitors a year.

The theme park area consists of several major attractions.

The first is based on Titanic and will feature a huge reproduction of the ocean liner. The area will also have one of three roller coasters in the park, the other two based on The Italian Job and a virtual reality feature called Mission Impossible.

The second area will be called the Lost Valley and will feature a water ride recreating a trip down the Congo River along with a recreation of the crypt from Tomb Raider and a rollercoaster based on Beowulf.

Two of the hotels on the site will be themed to tie-in with Paramount films.

An area specifically for children will be the Woodland Fantasy while thrillseekers can endure a ride based around Paranormal Activity.

Plaza Futura is based around cutting-edge technology and features Star Trek and a recreation of War of the Worlds.

The central part of the park is an avenue with hotels, restaurants and a shopping centre.
