Kent's new overseas player Makaya Ntini arrives in England on Monday and will make his debut in the LV= County Championship Division 1 game against Lancashire starting at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old former South African Test star was released early by the Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings and will be with the county for about five weeks.
He is flying direct from Cape Town to Manchester and will be met by Kent team director Paul Farbrace.
Farbrace said: "We have made such an effort to get him that we should be there ourselves to meet him.
"We have been very lucky that Chennai released him a week early, and he flew back to South Africa last week.
"He has completed all the formalities and is flying in via Amsterdam at lunchtime. I just hope there are no more volcanos in Iceland to cause more problems in the air!"
Ntini and Simon Cook (pictured) are likely to come into the side, with James Tredwell away on England duty.
Meanwhile, Dewald Nel and Robbie Joseph both play for the second team in a friendly against Durham at Beckenham.
Nel had a torrid time on his debut for the county against Warwickshire on Sunday, conceding 70 in seven overs.
Meanwhile, Joseph tests his fitness after a shoulder operation during the winter.
