Man, 33, faces GBH charge

DETECTIVES investigating an incident in which a 45-year-old man was assaulted have arrested two people.

Brain Sanders, 33, of Brambletree Crescent, Rochester, was arrested and charged with GBH and is due to appear before Medway magistrates court today.

A 24-year-old Rochester woman was also arrested in connection with the incident. She has been bailed to Medway police station pending further enquiries.

The arrests follow an incident at around 3.30pm on Tuesday in Borstal Street, Rochester.

The man who was assaulted was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with a serious head injury. He was later transferred to Kings College Hospital, London, where his treatment is ongoing.

He is conscious and his condition is described as serious but stable.

Det Sgt Noel Stanley, who is leading the investigation, said: "We remain keen to hear from any witnesses to the assault."
