Man, 60, attacked with hammer

A ROBBER viciously attacked a man with a hammer before stealing cash, mobile phones and credit cards from his house.

The 60-year-old victim went to answer his door at Millmead Road, Margate, but before he got there he saw someone kicking a glass panel in it.

The attacker got into the house and hit the man, who fell to the floor before the attacker assaulted him again. The victim’s wife then came downstairs.

Two of the attacker’s accomplices stayed with the couple while the attacker and another man searched the house. All four men then fled.

The attacker is described as black, in his early twenties, 5ft 5in and slim. He was wearing a mask over his face, a dark jacket, dark trousers and gloves.

One of the other men was black and was wearing a white hooded top. Just after the attack a white Vauxhall Cavalier or a similar shaped car left the area.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack - about 11.30pm on Thursday - and has information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
